Details
Troides magellanus belongs to the "birdwing" group of
butterflies. The most remarkable charateristic of this particular
species is that its golden yellow wings become a glaze of iridescent
green-blue when viewed at low angles. This phenomenon is caused
by tiny little specialized scales on its wings.
